The notion between success and fitness

When successful people confesses what made them successful, very often they have a set of answers we mostly come across, focus, taking actions, taking risks and grit to name a few. To improve on these criteria, these successful people often use regular exercise. If you have not figured out the notion between fitness and success this would be an eye opener. Steve Jobs at Apple, ones told an interviewer, that when he got something to figure out, he often takes a walk. Also most of the top figures have a hobby that helps them to engage in physical activities. What they believe is that the physical exercise are playing a major role in achieving,

  • Mental stamina- trains your brain to take on harder tasks at hand. You are likely to endure physically as well as mentally and be optimistic on tasks compared to when you are not doing the regular exercises. The harder jobs at hand don’t exhaust you anymore. This is an upper hand to anyone whose routines are required mental toughness at work/ business. The exercises also help to roll on the momentum of work, so you tend to achieve more.
  • Reduced Stress level- the physical activities keep your blood flow running healthy, make you relaxed, calm and lead to a more focused mind. Naturally the regular exercises offer you the calmness of meditation sessions. This often helps to take decisions with clarity, assuring you that those decisions are not dependent on the emotions.
  • Self satisfaction- When you stand before a mirror, you would know the difference you made to yourself and what you have achieved. That feeling gives you the confidence that the goals are achievable and can be used to present yourself better. Regular exercises can boost your confidence hence happiness. That also plays a vital role when achieving success.

There are various research evidences available on internet to support this statement which I think it’s not necessary to repeat in detail, but revealed few key points that might be helpful to you.

-It is absolutely fine to stay whatever the body you are in, as long as you are happy, comfortable and not limited by-

‘FIT’ may have many definitions depending on your age, capacity, behaviour etc. Most importantly the capability to achieve a set goal, as in, the level of fitness you need to have, to achieve a particular goal. This benchmark of fitness may vary from person to person. Most successful people though, share some great level of belief when it comes to level of fitness they engage in order to achieve success. Most of the entrepreneurs and corporate heads start the day with at least an hour long exercises despite their tight daily routines. They believe that the edge or the drive is always given by this commitment. Not only the physical fitness, but the mental fitness is also vital in achieving a set goal. So if you are a start-up, self employed, entrepreneur or an executive with a busy time schedule, it would make it very interesting for you to take on the challenge to see how it progress.

To keep the laser sharp focus which is crucial in achieving a goal, one must have a high level of fitness to support. Be it physical or mental, both fitness has to be maintained to a high level under pressure, throughout a period of time, perhaps with no tangible gain in return for a while. This is a tough ask to any individual looking for success. However, the good news is that you can train your brain and manifest the sort of environment you would like to create in order to achieve success.  Mostly at the early stage of your career or business, with there is no such a guarantee if you would ever be successful at all, it takes special breed to be able to handle the stress. And being fit enough instantly gives you the advantage of be the kind of person who can handle those situations.

Limitations to overcome

When you carry out your day-to-day tasks, it is very important to be able to execute them as planned. On top of the uncontrollable constraints that emerge during the day, it is a setback if our physical and mental fitness is not up to the mark to carry out the tasks ahead.

If you feel tired after a few hours work, or even exhausted after dealing with some business issues, it is helpful to have a clear and focused mind as much as to have physical strength to stay ahead. In a dog-eat-dog market, to have any chance of survival, making correct decisions at the correct speed is very important. At the end of the day you wouldn’t personally listen to a sales persons pitch if the person doesn’t present the product or the services enthusiastically, regardless of how nice the product or service is.

‘You are what you eat’, is an old saying that hasn’t outdated with time. This article is not intended to body shame or make the reader feel uncomfortable, but to give a glimpse on the subject. With busy life routines we all are in, physical and mental fitness often been overlooked. The good news is that you can easily fix this problem and pave the way to start living healthy as you are achieving your goals. Obesity is a main obstacle for you to overcome if you are to success.

I’m not a fitness instructor or a dietician, but an entrepreneur who is actively engaged in physical activities for quite some time. Busy lifestyle and work pressure (scapegoat) persuade us to give less priority for physical fitness. Mostly because it doesn’t give you the results instantly, be it positive or negative. So you wouldn’t know the negative impact it gives you, for not being engaged in physical exercises. On the other hand the benefit appears to be almost impossible to achieve in shorter life span. And it is seemingly the hardest job in the “to do list” at least when you first start doing it. So we tend to procrastinate the exercises and schedule the exercises for tomorrow that never comes. But eventually when you realize that you have gained weight and your dresses are getting tighter, you start to worry and regret the meal you had just before.

That is just one way of getting your body out of shape and gain weight, eventually restricting your potential. Also this could be due to a habit or unhealthy addiction as well. And the more time you spend without focusing on the actual problem and fix it, harder it gets both physically and mentally to get back on track.

When you are on the roll…

If you spend few hours in the gym regularly, you are likely to be inspired more about being active. Also you share the same atmosphere, belief, and work ethics etc amongst the likeminded community who believe what you believe. That will also improve your chance of success via great networking. So basically even if you put at least an hour from your busy schedule it is worth it, at least from my personal experience. After all, most of us can easily spare an hour or two for this course no matter how busy we think we are.

I always wanted to maintain a decent figure, however, the goal was only a wish and there was no real meaning to this in my head. It was only adding me pressure every time I had a meal. So I ended up not enjoying the meals too, eventually, which I think is pretty unfair. So I started to think of a strategy to overcome this hurdle. I realised out of thousands of programmes, the one that fits me would be different from the one that fits you. And there could be nothing wrong with either one, but just one plan would be ideal but the other could be impractical.

Few tips I used to shed 15kg’s (33lbs) while not compromising on my other routines. Read here to find out…

Summary

When we are chasing a set goal which has been generated in your mind, it is most likely that the others around you would not welcome or get excited about this goal as you wanted them. Not because the idea/goal is a bad one or infeasible, but the person grasping the idea may not hold your vision. Persuading those around you can easily drain your energy out. So to keep you with the focus and optimism it is a very cost effective and smart way to keep yourself physically busy, as it comes with many other added benefits. Another tactic that worked best for me was to attach one of my main goals with physical fitness. I visualised regularly, to receive a major award and to be on stage with the great figure I always wanted to have. So it did work.

In the business world you would use as many strategies and tactics to achieve a goal. Because you know the reward is worth it and makes you feel better, just like that you can use any way of getting this desired outcomes. Because not all of us are same and our goals are not the same. So shouldn’t be the strategies. Use whatever useful techniques and get find the Holy Grail.
